The sun

  • The Sun, is a daily tabloid Newspaper on sell from Monday to Friday published in both the UK and Ireland.
  • It was first published as a broadsheet 15Th September 1964 launched by owner IPC but circulation later failed as it did not live up to the expectation of IPC so the paper was later brought by Murdoch for 800,000 and relaunched
  • The Sun as a Tabloid first published as a tabloid on the 17Th of November 1969, sex then became an important part of the Newspaper " page 3 girls"

Distribution

  • The sun is a very successful newspaper which is shown through its high circulations being the second highest circulation Daily English Newspaper in the world and has the biggest circulation within the UK.
  • They sell on average a number of 2,986,000 copies a day between the months of January to June which may be where there circulation is at its highest.
  • The Sun has a daily readership of 7,900,000, they also have a much higher percentage of Male consumers than Female, of which 56% male and 44% female.
  • Also has the tenth biggest Newspaper in any language in the world.

Feature:

  • Heavily relies on stories involving celebrity scandals, entertainment industry, general news pages such as bizarre "pop stories and Gossip",TV Biz " television stories centring on soaps and reality TV.
  • They run regular promotions such as DVD and HOLIDAY GIVEAWAY.
  • The sun also include a large sports section at the back with football as the mainstream
