The metro analysis

The Metro:

  • The Metro is a tabloid, daily fre Newspaper avaliable from Monday to Friday on many London Transports such as Buses, Trains, Undergrounds.
  • It is in the same media group and instituion as the Daily mail and the Mail on Sunday.
  • The Metro as a paper is not very detailed as many of the bigger Newspapers such as the Telegraph and the Daily Mail as it is a paper that is meant to read in a short space of time.

Features in the Metro:

  • Includes information on Travel, Health, Weather, Style and Home and they provide extensive Art coverage and and Entertainment.
  • They do this as their magazine is for all audiences so theres something to appeal to all audiences and members of the public. On the 8th of july 2009 an online version emerged along with the london lite.

Distribution:

  • The Metro is a very successful daily newspaper with one million daily readers being one of the largest daily newspapers read after the dail mail, mirrior and the sun.
  • This is due to their paper being left on buses tube and the underground and being picked up b y the next passenger.
  • This is going to be something we consider when producing our own newspaper as we want to aim at a younger audience so have to to further research wheter our newspaper is going to be free.
  • It has an urban youthful audience with 78% aged between 15 to 44.
