- Centred at the top left of the page clearly states the name of the Newspaper names "metro" in bold blue so its stand out and to inform readers of the newspaper there reading, also included in this section is the date "Monday September 25Th 2009" this is also to inform the audience that they have the most recent newspaper out and to just let the know the date in general. The Page number is also displayed in the top left corner, this may be used as if there is a brief article displayed on the front page it usually continues inside the paper in more details so readers will know what page page the find the article because it says.
- The layout of this page is divided into sub sections depending on what the topic is about and between each topic the layout is very clear for audience to read, the publisher of the newspapers have done this by placing gutter between each sub section and so that there is enough space provided to fit all the articles on in on page.
- The first sub section is a puff which states in bold "DON'T MISS THESE" which instantly catches readers attention making them want to find out what this latest new is. Its a puff because the metro newspaper is a brand that is a multi platform product that aims to attract a high density audience through not only the newspaper but the Internet as well as they are acknowledging that consumer use the Internet and other sources of publishing news eg, radio and posters.
- As the metro is for a more informal audience they have include funny and celebrity topics which people can view on the website as they know it will catch there attention. there is the use of videos which consumers can access on the Internet such as " what a cruel but funny prank" which is a topic that is going to make teenagers and young adult laugh as its to do with humour. there are also clear bullet points of other features people can view on there web page about muggers and celebrities such as Justin Timberlake and Rhianna.
- As this is the second page of the metro and a page that we our selves have to produce, a common convention they have included within this pages is a contents section headed up "today's menu" which is informal compared to other newspaper that are more formal who would just write contents. Using words such as today's menu give the newspaper a much more friendly feel and will make more people happier reading it. The contents list is very short and in bold so it stands out to readers and the metro have again gone straight for the entertainment factor, listing the most interesting issues such as 60 second interviews body matters, guilty pleasure and so on which are all issues that readers will want to turn to first so the are meeting consumers needs and wants through displaying the most entertaining topics in bold.
- There is a display of advertisement poster for a mobile phone which lets readers know the latest technologies out that they may be interested in buying, the picture itself take up the majority of the page which may be because it a tabloid paper that is distributed on London transport and reader may not have a lot of time to read articles.
- There is consistent use of colours throughout the second page with a white background the form and layout is clear with the use of blue and black writing and text box so images stand out on the page.
- Weather update have been included which is also a great catch for readers as if they didn't have the opportunity to find out about the weather before leaving the house then they can just read it in the paper for free the layout of the weather is very clear and the map stands out and they also mention the day after weather so although the paper is informal it is very informative, within the gutters in red so if they want more information the can visit the website.
- Hyperbole, Newspapers use this technique to attract readers' attention. The headlines for stories, especially the front page stories, go for the most outrageous and/or scandalous aspects of the story. These kinds of headline stories are usually targeted at vulnerable groups, often groups of people who are unable to respond or reply. In recent years asylum seekers and refugees have been the target for front page 'hyperbole' stories. We aim to create a newspaper aimed at a multi-cultural youth audience , we know the value of hyperbole but aim to use it in a way that is vulnerable and marginal groups in society and are not the target of our attention.
- The narrative of this page is to informal people of local weather news and advertisements that are on offer to the public.

Page 3:
- The metro has focus on who there core audience is as there main article is very detailed about, focusing upon issues such as healthy eating and lifestyle. This is suitable and appropriate for a female target audience especially, or perhaps the 'metro sexual' man. Focusing on issues such as theses is a good way of increasing circulation as these are topic which will interest women, young girls and metro sexual men.
- The food topic they have focus this page on is, may be the narrative of he article, as its the main news item that is read internationally.
- Writing an article about food may be seen a very sterotypical to females, the metro also encourages people from all social classes to read the same paper and allows people to accept social inequalities as the same news and advertisements are reaching all types of people.
- There is a close up of a woman with a burger covering her face centered in the middle of the page which is immediately going to catch readers attention. And a caption provided underneath so reader understand what the picture is about and understanding the full meaning of the picture.
- "DIET COLA WITH THAT", this title is in cap locks to catch readers attention and also asking them a direct question.
- Gutters throughout the page are all the same size so the structure of the newspapers is clear
- The metro has again placed an advertisement at the bottom of the page in blue so it stand out in comparisons to the other pieces of text which are dull in black and white, in the advertisement they have provide a picture to add extra to it and to give the audience a feel of the resort
- The article it self is very brief and short so it can be read in a short space of time. They have also have quotes within the article to give the audience peoples opinion.
- They have used a banner on top of the main headline to add to the newspaper which is a convention that will be commonly found in any newspaper
