Questionnaire Analyse

As a part of our market research we decided that to get the best result possible we should conduct a questionaire for our target audience which is young adult between the ages of around 15 to 19. In total we asked seven question as we thought this would be enough for us to based our ideas for our own magazine on, we decided to make our results fair we thought we should ask the same number of boys(5) and girls(5) just to see if there was a difference in our results, but it didn't seem to make any change showing that boys and girls are expecting to same things from a music magazine. So we therefore wrote up a questionnaire for this audience, of the key question we thought were important when making our own magazine.

Questions we asked were:

1.How oten do you read music magazines?
we gave options: once a week, more than once a week, once a month and other......

: From our results we notice that the majority of people in our age range mostly buy music magazines at least once a month, however we did also notice that some people are willing to buy a music magazine once a week. Lastly four people said other specfiying they don't really buy music magazine throught out the year but may consider pick one up. So for our own magazine we need to take into making our magazine a monthly issuese so that we can maximise profits.

2. How much do you spend on a music magazine:

Options given were £1-£2, £2-£4 and £4 plus.

:The average price people spend on a music magazine is £2-£4 which is a reasonable price as most magzines today are priced between £2-£4. Other say they spend £4 plus which is also a good price as many music magzines are issued monthly and charge around this price as they have to take into consideration cost of production and so on. This shows us how much people already spend on a music magazine and give and idea for our own price range.

3.How much would you be willing to spend on a music magazine?
Option are: £2-£3, £3-£4,£4 plus

:From our results we can see that most people(6) would be willing to spend £3-£4 on a music magazine which is a reasonable price, while the remain 3 said which show that in general our price range should be £4+ as that what people are happy with and it also helps us as it tells us not to charge to liitle and not to much which is good. Also if we do choose around this price it won't be a surpise to our consumers as they will be expecting it to be around the 3 to 4 pound price range which are questionnaire clearly shows.

4. What magazines do you read?
Options: kerrang rolling stone NME Q Hip Hop smash hits vibe billboard and mojo. We did this to get an ideas of the most popular genres amoung our target audience.
:There is a split vew on magzines that are brought mainly because people like all different types of magzines for example VIBE is a magzine about hip hop which got 3 and NME is a magazine about rock whic got 2 showing that there is a share view on music genre. This is good for when we do our own magzine as it show that were not restricted to doing on type of genre as everyone has different intrests. It can also help us in our research as we can look through thses magazines and analyse what part intrest people and don't.
5.What genres of music do you listen to

Options: Pop,Rap, Grime, RnB, Funky House, Garage, Hip Hop, Classical, Soca and Indie.

:We gave boys and girls the option of ticking more than one box and found that the most popular genres are funky house, RnB, Hip Hop and Garage, which will help us get a better idea of the types of genres to look at when doing our own music magazine. It also shows the kinds of magazines that are on demand by the wider population.

6.Would free gifts encourage you to buy a music magazine?

:9 out of 10 people said that a free gift would definitely encourage them to buy a music magazine. this would be a good way of getting more buyer and making more profit, which we will remeber when doing are own music magazine to make it look better.

7. what features do you enjoy most in music magazines?
Options: Interviews, Lateset music out, pictures, ads, ringtones and other.

:From these results you can see that people look for all of these feathures in a music magazine as we gave all 10 people the option of picking more than one box. most popular is pictures interviews, gossip and latest music out. So it help us as it show us the main things we need to inculde in our magazine.

To conculde our questionnaire has hepled us research a lot into the key things you need in a magazine to make consumers happy. From our analyses we think our uniques selling point would be chart count down or a free promontianal gift for example a CD with latest tracks on it as our target audience have clearly pointed this out for us in our questionnaire so we are definiatley going be somethink to think about when we do our magazine. As our Target audience is 15 to 19 yr old our magazines has to have a young look to it and has to be more informal as this is what will gain there attention we will do this by inculding bold heading loads of stap lines and sub headings and feature they have mentioned in our questionnaire like pictures advertisments ringtones and interviews which gained the most votes from are target audience. We will have to price our magazine at around the 3 to 4 pound price range as this is what there willing to pay and if we do over charge, people will not be likely to buy it and make turn to other magzine instead of our as there is so many different music magazines out we have to produce the right product to beat other competition in the same industry. In our magzine we will also have to considers inculding popular artists as in question 5 we asked "what genres of music do you listen to" and alot of poeple said funy house, RnB and hip hop so we would have to inclulde artists like rhianna, chris brown, beyonce, Crazy cousions, keysha cole and so on.......... I think doing a questionnaire has really help me and korri to understand what we have to do to make a succesful product and as we are only working in a 2 has give us more ideas and opinions to put towards our magazine.
